NEW CARES Communications Team

Your NEW CARES Communications team is Goretti Calvo, Chris Pedersen, Eileen McCourt, who are McCourt & Calvo Professional Development Consultants, and Yesenia Lopez, our CARES administrative assistant.

The Newsletter will no longer be mailed to your home, so please check the website as often as possible, and call our toll free number if you have any questions or concerns. The newsletter will be available center locations, the college counselor’s office, and online.

Child Development Centers

The communications team will be at CDCs throughout Monterey County September through January, to answer questions and connect you with resources.

Licensed and License-Exempt Family Child Care Providers
The communications team has scheduled two group meetings in October to answer your questions about NEW CARES and connect you with resources. Meet the Hartnell NEW CARES counselors and network with other family child care providers. Refreshments and door prizes for everyone. We have some fun materials for your program. Additional meetings will be held throughout the county during October through January. Call 866-486-1266 for more information.

To Participate in NEW CARES 
CARES is easier than ever!

  1. Declare your major in Child Development or Early Childhood Education at your community college through the Office of Admissions. 
  2. Meet with the CARES college counselor at MPC or Hartnell to create or update your Education Plan. 
  3. Apply for a $500 incentive if you reside in Monterey County and you complete six qualifying college units with a grade of C or better, between January 1-2011 and June 20, 2012. Incentives will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  4. For assistance with textbooks, contact your CARES Counselor.
